Is it useful and profitable to play at Blackjack with insurance? This question racks many gamblers as they don’t know the correct answer on it. Even professional gamblers have different opinions regarding this issue. But mostly it is a proven fact that it is useless of hedging a bet that will be lost in any situation. But the skilled players can turn any situation into a winning position.  They are sure that insurance should be bought so that to protect a hand. But, first of all, let’s understand the nature of insurance at blackjack and the reason for it.

When the upper card of the dealer’s hand is an ace, then the insurance is offered to the player, no matter, what hand he has. The answer here is obligatory, because the game will not go on without it. If you take insurance, you should pay the half of the initial bet. But before taking it answer several questions: “What will give insurance to the outcome of the game?”, “Is it reasonable?”, “Probably, is it better to refuse it?”.

There are some situations when it is advisable to take insurance. For example, if you have a very good hand (may be, equal to 20 or 21), you should be afraid of wasting money, because it will help you to get your full bet back. If you understand that you lose and want to save money at the end of a round, you can buy insurance as well. But remember: if your bet is $10, you need to add $5 more, and if a dealer really has a blackjack, you will get your $10 back and lose $5.

And the last advice: be reasonable, if you understand that risk is not worthy, don’t hedge. But risk is justified, take the insurance.
